How to connect two computers in LAN(Local Area Network)

While connecting two desktop or laptop compters in a network in order to share files programs play LAN games we need to configure our LAN setting in two computers which is to be connected.

For connection we first need a NIC(Network Interface Card) installed in our computer. Then we need a pair of RJ-45 connector properly configured in Unshielded twisted pair network cable. Now we have to change little in LAN setting. Follow the given steps for configuration.  

1. Go to Local Area Connection (Control pannel>Network and Internet Connections>Network Connections)

2. Right click on local area connection.

3. Click on properties

4. Properties dialog box opens. In General Tab select Internet protocol(TCP/IP) v4.

5.Click on properties button.

6. Check on "Use the following   IP address".

7. On IP address box fill 192.168.1.1

    Subnet mask: automatically 255.255.255.0. Don't change it.

8. On default gateway fill 192.168.1.2
9. Click on save botton./ or OK button.




Now we have to do a little change on another computer.

10. On another computer do same up to 6

11. On IP address box fill 192.168.1.2 subnet mask same no change, default gateway 192.168.1.1
12.Click on save botton./ or OK button.




After doing this there is a small icon of LAN connection and displays a notification confirming your LAN connection in the right corner buttom of the taskbar.
If your computer doesn't display any notification or LAN connection is not established after this Go to Local Area Connection and check if it is disabled.
If is disabled right click on LAN icon and click "enable".
